Mountain Pottery is pleased to announce a collaboration with Mesa Contemporary Arts Museum, a Cannupa Hanska Luger Beadmaking workshop...”Something To Hold Onto.”
With “Something To Hold Onto” artist Cannupa Hanska Luger “aims to utilize social collaboration to re-humanize large and abstract data through the process of creating handmade objects.” In this case the data is the more than 7,209 migrant deaths while crossing the southwestern border of the United States over the past 20 years. In workshops at Mountain Pottery and across the country individuals will make clay beads to represent each of these lost lives. The clay beads will be incorporated in a monumental work of art by Cannupa Hanska Luger at the Mesa Contemporary Arts Museum in Mesa Arizona.
Tiffany Fairall, Chief Curator, and Colette Pecenka, Curator of Exhibitions and Education, from Mesa Contemporary Arts Museum at Mesa Arts Center will lead this amazing day of art and social awareness. Join us at Mountain Pottery to learn more about this important project and to make a bead to contribute to the installation. FREE... everyone welcome!
Our 12 ceramic artists have a variety of unique handmade ceramic pieces available for sale in our Gallery Shop.
Get your hands on some clay and make a set of creative and functional coasters ($35) or schedule a wheel throwing class, ceramic hand-building workshop, precious metal clay or copper enameling workshop at your convenience.
