October Pottery Classes Available To Book!

Science & STEM (ages 6-14)
Credentialed science/STEM teacher Helen Hixon will guide students through a series of hands-on science and STEM activities in a range of disciplines. All activities are appropriate and accessible to students in grades 1-8.
Science/STEM
Session 1: Thursdays 10-11am Aug 29, Sept 5, 12, 26 (no class Sept 19)
Rocks! Students will explore the wonderful world of geology with an emphasis on rocks through a variety of hands-on science and STEAM activities.
Session 2: Thursdays 10-11am Oct 10, 17, 24 & Nov 7 (no class Oct 31)
Birds! Students will participate in a variety of hands-on science and STEAM activities as they learn about birds...what's your favorite bird?
Session 3: Thursdays 10-11am Nov 14, 21, Dec 5 & 12 (no class Thanksgiving)
Weather: Rain or shine students will participate in a variety of science and STEAM activities related to understanding various weather phenomena.
Cost for 4 Science/STEM classes is $125 per student and includes all materials.
Class/Program
Ceramics Arts (age 5-12)
Professional potter Helen Hixon will guide students through a series of lessons in ceramics handbuilding and surface decorating techniques. All activities are appropriate and accessible to students in grades 1-8.
Session 1: Thursdays 11:00-12:15 Aug 29, Sept 5, 12, 26 (no class Sept 19)
Rocks: Rocks and clay, yes! Students will use a variety of techniques to incorporate the use of rocks into making a ceramic spoon, a textured vessel and more.
Session 2: Thursdays 11:00-12:15 Oct 10, 17, 24 & Nov 7 (no class Oct 31)
Birds! : Students will sculpt a duck, create a bird feeder and more in this bird-brained session.
Session 3: Thursdays 11-12:15 Nov 14, 21, Dec 5 & 12 (no class Thanksgiving)
Weather: Students will create a multi-part windchime including assembling all the parts in this windy class.
Cost for 4 Ceramics and Glazing classes is $200 per student and includes all materials, use of tools and both bisque & glaze firing of pieces made.
One time class from 11am-12:15pm.
$45 per student (enrichment certificates from MVA or PCA accepted).
Sgraffito is a decoration produced on pottery or ceramics by scratching through a surface to reveal a different color underneath. Participants will select a shape and form a trinket dish using a white clay. They will then brush on a layer of colored underglaze and scratch a design through the colored underglaze. The staff at Mountain Pottery will bisque fire, dip in clear glaze and glaze fire your pieces for you. Dishes are ready for pickup or shipping in about 3-5 weeks.
